History

History
The community was expelled in 1948 from El Qaryitein. Their lands expand from Kseifeh to the dead sea, and include Susya. They were forcibly removed from their lands several times but have returned and continue to inhabit their historical lands.

In the past the community used to move in the winter to Qweiweis, and in the summer to the area of Al Masafer (Jinba, Al Majaz, Al Halawa) for three or four months. Today very few still go.

Three outposts and settlements surround the community: Avigayel, Susya, and Mitzpe Yair. Parts of the area were declared closed military zones which prohibit their access to their grazing areas. The community reports violence from settlers who, according to the community, hit the herders, steal their herds, and poison their wells.
